Transitional Kindergarten

Transitional Kindergarten

Our Transitional Kindergarten is designed for students who either may just miss the age requirements for kindergarten (i.e., fall birthdays) or may need an additional year to prepare for the increasing social, emotional, and academic expectations that kindergarten presents.

This 5-day class is a bridge between pre-kindergarten and kindergarten that gives students the opportunity to further develop the pre-literacy, pre-math, fine motor, and social skills necessary to feel confident and capable in a kindergarten classroom.

Transitional Kindergarten students practice handwriting and letter formation, build their phonemic awareness through weekly letter studies, further develop their working mathematical understanding, and discover the wonders of science and discovery through exploration and experimentation.

Transitional Kindergarten works at a faster pace for the advanced preschool learner and offers a deeper dive into each academic area while maintaining a developmentally appropriate pace and scope of instruction.

Transitional Kindergarten students also participate in Early Education Chapels, Motion and Movement Classes, and regular trips to the school library as well as regular recesses for gross motor development.

Students must be 5 years old on or before October 15 of the current school year to qualify for Transitional Kindergarten.

Hours are 8:30am to 12:30pm.
