Grace Covenant Academy, located in the Lake Norman area, is a private Christian school with excellent academics, Biblical values, and new facilities. It is an exciting place to learn! Starting with Pre-K and continuing through Fifth Grade, GCA’s growth has resulted from a commitment to provide a place where children develop eagerness for learning in a dynamic Christ-centered environment.

GCA is located on the campus of Grace Covenant Church at Exit 25 on I-77 in Cornelius, NC.

Within this website, you'll see some of the activities at GCA. Although it would be impossible to capture every day in print, we love to share special times with you, friends and family. While browsing the pages of our gallery, our family bulletin board, teachers' webdesks, we hope you'll see a God-honoring, fun-filled, excellent place of education. Prospective families are invited to call and schedule a visit to our campus at Grace Covenant Church. The Director loves sharing the history, mission, and vision of Grace Covenant Academy! Please accept our invitation by calling the academy office at 704-892-5601.

Enrichment Highlight- Art

Tamra Hall

The third annual GCA Art Fair was a huge success!  It’s such a great night for our entire school to gather together to celebrate the incredible talents of our students.  If you were not able to make it to the Art Fair this year, the artwork is still hanging… all over the place!  We currently still have art displayed from the academy entrance all the way to the foyer of the church.  Getting ready for the Art Fair takes months of planning for everyone involved so I must give my thanks to those who helped.  If you were part of the Art Fair this year, please know how much I appreciate all your time and efforts.  See photos of the art in our web gallery and in our monthly newsletter.

The 2009-2010 school year has been another incredible year for me as well as the students.  I hope your child has shared with you some of the things they’ve learned.  This year, we’ve discovered abstract art, mosaics, modeling clay and lots of painting!  Due to the success of the Art Fair last year, we were able to purchase a class set of easels, new paints and brushes, canvases, and other basic supplies.

Some projects from the year included a third grade lesson on the Lion and the Lamb.  They studied Edward Hicks’ “Peaceable Kingdom” and learned that in order to live together in peace and harmony we all need a little “tolerance and compassion.”  They used color changing markers to draw a lion lying next to a lamb.  The first graders completed a beautiful crayon resist watercolor entitled “Jesus is my Good Shepherd.”  Lastly, fourth graders painted a silhouette of the manger scene at Christmas.  I want the students to know that God is in everything we do… even in art!
